Gums Along the Mullum Mullum

Acrylic on canvas

This work was inspired by my regular walks along the Mullum Mullum Trail. It captures a familiar rhythm of looking up to glimpses of sky that appear between the shifting canopies of the gums. I’m particularly drawn to the manna gums and the way their peeling bark creates subtle variations across the trunks - layers of colour emerging and receding over time. Soft greys, warm ochres, and muted greens sit alongside one another, forming patterns that feel both gentle and alive.
